As far as I can tell, "Sligo River Blues" is a John Fahey original. Fahey was such an amazingly talented musician that he was able to make traditional tunes sound like unique compositions, and also make his own songs sound like they should have been old standards. Of course, the entire Blind Joe Death concept was Fahey mythologizing a non-existant blues musician. I'll have to check out his live stuff, too, as I've just started getting into his music myself.

Jesus, I'd been getting into some Fahey over the last year especially Live In Tasmania but this floored me. Gorgeous. The more I listen to his stuff the more I see it in Jim O' Rourke. I'm Irish too so I'd love to know is this a trad arrangement or did Fahey pen this one himself. Next time I'm in the record shop I'm buying Legend of Blind Joe Death.Cheers.
