I spent a lovely afternoon at Vertigo Music in Grand Rapids, which is my favorite record store outside the confines of Greenwich Village. They had local bands playing in store all day, giveaways, discounts on all purchases, and free beer!

I think all record stores should offer free beer. Perhaps this is the marketing strategy that can save record stores.

I got the new Liam Finn, Scott Walker 2, and picked up a copy of Cut Copy's new one for friends. THAT album deserves a review soon.

So how did you support your local record store, Scotter? After watching a bluegrass band perform outside of Vintage Vintyl in STL, I went inside and picked up The Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo and the best of Desmond Dekker. I tried looking for that Why? album, but to no avail.
