Thanks. It’s very hard to find anything intelligent about Lady GaGa on the internets. Although, without getting fanboyish, I hope, you gave the work much too short shrift. There’s a lot more there.

Those “loose slot” billboards are still embarassingly prevalent in St. Louis. I have to agree with Liz, though, that even an empowered female pop singer would want to avoid any connotations about the looseness of her slot.
You two detail my thoughts exactly upon listening to Lady Gaga songs for the first few times. And then I heard “Poker Face” about a thousand more times and I can’t stop singing it to myself.
I can see where you are coming from with the “Tell me lies” comparison, but the chorus has always reminded me of “Foolish Hearts” by Steve Perry. Oh well, I am way more of a Just Dance guy anyway.
I wasn’t familiar with that Steve Perry song but I’m listening to it now and you’re totally right! It’s got that same melodic segment that the other two tracks have.
