Honey Baked Jams and Mashed Potatunes: The Post-Rockist Summer Birthday Mix(es)

It’s Thursday night. You’re at a show. You scan the room. The band is great, but after a few hours of music everyone’s mind can wander a bit, and the eyes are always next to follow.

So you peruse the room and see wallflowering in the corner someone you’d probably never suspect at a show these days: a blogger. You can tell because this blogger probably has a little notepad and pen and is the only dork in the place writing notes.

You walk up to the blogger, who happens to be wearing a goofy pointy hat on this particular day, June 25. The reason: It’s his birthday. He’s a Cancer. That means said blogger is:

Emotional and Loving
Intuitive and Imaginative
Shrewd and Cautious
Protective and Sympathetic

But in darker moments…

Changeable and Moody
Overemotional and Touchy
Clinging and Unable to Let Go

Wait, does that mean that all bloggers are Cancers?

But lucky you, this particular blogger — who turns three years old today — is The Post-Rockist, which means that there’s a mix in his pocket — two, in fact! — that he’s happy to share with you. Turns out the mixes are packed to the gills with  jammage for the sweet and probably sweltering summer to come.

You take the mix and promise you’ll listen to it later. Your departure is kind of sudden, like the click of a button you leave the blogger in his corner to hang out and be awkward. But all he hopes in his heart of hearts is that maybe all the hard work he put into these mixes will give you some joy as you’re cruising in your car with the windows down, hanging out near the pool, chillin at night with friends in your apartment or, best of all, dancing and sweating to these tracks at a party. That’s all we really want. Really.

So please celebrate with us and feast your ears on some hot mashed potatunes and honey baked jams.

Thanks to everyone who follows along!

Your pals,

Todd and Scotter (and Andrew, Liz, Kim, Amy, Daniel, Josh, Mike, Kula, Richard, and Bryan, by association)

That Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell has made your summer mix says so much.

and now I find myself regretting not talking about my obsession with this song yesterday.

I just noticed that the track names on the Scotter mix dont’ show in iTunes. I’ve made changes to the files so that they show now. Sorry, and thanks for listening.

Matt, that song is brilliant. I’m pretty sure I can talk about it for hours.

Amy, as one of the Post-Rockists, that means you too are the world’s greatest.

I think the track by Those Dancing Days officially came out in 2008 in Sweden, but it didn’t really come to my attention until this year. But yeah – it’s a great little tune! Happy to provide some upbeat jams for your field work out in China!
