Without this man, rock & roll as we know it probably wouldn’t exist. It’s tempting to say that about a lot of music legends, but the man who pioneered both the solid-body guitar and multi-track recording has a pretty convincing claim to the title.

Here he is with his wife, Mary Ford, on their 1953 TV show, singing “The World is Waiting for the Sunrise.”

You know hard those multi-Mary Ford harmonies are? Les basically invented multi-track recording, but holy shit did the two of them have the talent to show off what you could do with it.
