Sorry! We got lazy and skipped a couple months. But our good pal Sasha (who previous joined us on episode five to discuss the Black Eyed Peas) was in town and she inspired us to get back on the podcasting wagon. She joins us for this episode, which is ostensibly about “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO, but also about our primal urges to learn dance routines, our unofficial contest to come up with the most awkward analogy for people of multiracial descent, and our discovery of what “FF” stands for in an ad for an transsexual escort.

True to our word, it’s June and we’re back! We’re on that modern rock tip this month, examining the wimpiest music that can be called “rock,” namely the popular Irish band the Script, and their newest anthemic attempt at U2/Coldplay-level superstardom, “For the First Time.” You can check out the video for the song here. America’s favorite hit discussers are back with a new podcast with a new, revamped title: “Here’s the Thing: Andrew and Liz Discuss the Hits.”

Episode 4 features discussings of two recent hits to hit the hit charts: Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex” and Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Thru the Phone.”

CORRECTIONS

  • The line in “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” is “Baby, I been thinkin’ lately,” and not “Lately, I been thinkin’ lately” as I mention.  I still maintain that the lyric in question is horrible.
  • “High concept” is defined as “a term used to refer to a succinctly stated premise describing the overall idea of production in just a few sentences or less.”  Consequently, I (Andrew) was correct.
  • I’m not sure that the “Text Message” song I quoted is the same one I heard on the radio, but it is a similarly idiotic song called “Text Message” that I found online.
  • Urban Dictionary informs me that “weezy” is champagne with ecstasy dissolved in it.  This may change the innocent nature of the song if that is the meaning that Jeremih implied.
